What A Summer!
I know, I know! It has been a long time since I have written but the summer season at work, which begins for me in early April, tends to take up a lot of my time, energy, and focus. It is not quite over yet but I felt today was a good day to stop for a moment, breathe a bit, and let you know what has been going on and what is planned in the coming months.
In spite of the fact that I have been busy this summer, I have done my best to keep as active as possible. Mostly with hiking at the park but running as well. I registered for and completed both the Atlanta Braves 5K and the Woodstock Freedom 5K with both giving me a decent finish time. I was consistent. Though I always want to beat myself up for not doing better, I know much of it has just been a result of my heavy workload so I am giving myself that grace with the knowledge that I am doing what I can.
I also volunteered a bit with Team Grady Gives at their annual Top Golf Celebrity Golf Tournament and Youth Football Camp.
What is coming up?
I have done a lot of product reviews this summer so those will start being posted over the next few weeks.
I also decided, quite unexpectedly, to run the Pittsburgh Marathon again in 2023 and am registered for that now. If you know me well at all, you know my love of the City of Pittsburgh and especially of the Penguins so it should not be any surprise to you that I am running that one again.
Part of my training cycle for this race will include raising donations for the Gary Sinise Foundation. As you know I have two brothers that served in the military, plus countless other family members and friends that have served, or are serving as first responders. It has been my favorite charity for several years. Last time I raised $400 but this time I want to raise way more than that and have a total goal of $3000. Yes, it is ambitious but I know this is a charity that does a lot of great work nationwide.
